...Dimple.

I heart this little dimple. And the cheek that has this dimple on it. And the smile that brings out this little dimple. And mostly, I heart the little boy with the dimply smile.
Officially jealous of dimples.

Boooo. I am being followed by a banging headache today, and THIS is where I would most like to be...
Tucked up in the dark in my bedroom.

.....Mummys Little Soldiers...

An exciting package came in the post today from Birmingham, addressed to Dylan and Boo Reid from their lovely Auntie Jackie.
In it, two HM Forces walkie talkies and some camouflage face paint. Ohhh yeah!! :)

"Roger dat" and "over and out" all day long!

.....Beaver Scouts.

Dylan is massively excited tonight, as he thinks he might get his 'experiment' badge at Beavers.

And It just doesn't get any better than that when you're 6 and a half. :)

....Spring has sprung in School Lane.

Ah, I love spring.
It makes me start thinking about picnics and sunglasses.
Freckles and daisy chains.
Cloud watching and paddling.
Straw Trilby's and flip flops.
The buzz of busy lawnmowers and Ice cream in the park.

It cheers my little soul right up. :)

....When I was a little girl, You were my hero.

This photograph was taken in 1978/9, and is of me and my Dad.
He died quite suddenly 19 years ago today so I thought I'd post one of my favourite pictures of him today, looking all cool and 70's.
(Even if I do look like a human potato...)

Thinking of you Dad. Sleep Well. X

...Frog.

'One day my prince will come..."
Oh wait, He already has. This must just be a random frog then. "Nice to meet your acquaintance Sir".

(The School pond has been taken over by frogs. No brave rescue attempts or kids running and screaming though à la E.T... Just a...Frog.)

...Rainbow Cake.

Today it is one of my best friends birthdays. Scratch here to reveal her age: ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ :)
I'm very lucky to be able to count her among the very best of best friends.
She is bloody brilliant and I love her to bits. :)

She has also had a spectacularly shabby weekend, and I heard a little rumour that she wanted to cancel her birthday. CANCEL HER BIRTHDAY?? This is not allowed. Infact, it may very well be illegal. Anyway, I was determined we were going to have some birthday-ness, and made her this Rainbow Cake.
Because nothing says I love you like rainbow cake.
And how can you be sad with all those E numbers raging in your system...?
Happy birthday butterbean! Love youuuuu. X

...Graffiti

Today we took the boys to Parents Paradise, a big soft play place in Watford in the hopes of finally being able to wear the little fellas out (!) It Didn't work... :)
On the way home we passed the skate park, and I loved this. Bang! Day 29! Haha. Just as i was beginning to freak out that I wouldn't get my photo.

Day 29 also involved some wine and beer with our lovely friends Miranda (Who happened to be passing as i was taking this very photograph) and Terry (Who happened not to be passing).
Miranda and Terry are the BEST. They even forgive you for smashing their chandelier during a particularly energentic 'Just Dance" session on the Wii, and that has to be love.. :)

....Red Nose Day.

Because I woke up this morning to the sounds of my children laughing, and watched them running around in their red noses, sorting out what to wear for Dress down Friday at School.

Because I'm lucky enough not to have to know a day when they are hungry and I can't feed them.
Because I don't have to worry about them dying from Malaria, or being HIV positive.

Because they are safe and warm and loved. Like every child should be.
And because somewhere in the world there are lots of children who are not safe and warm this morning.

Here's where to Donate...  X

....Army Men.

'Never leave a good soldier behind.'

Todays daily challenge? Toys.
Meet the Green Army Men. The most feared one-inch-tall regiment to date.
Their feet might be stuck to green plastic bases, and there's always one that just bloody refuses point blank to stand up, but we can forgive them this.

...What is more difficult to forgive, is the little bugger camouflaged in the carpet that you stand on with your bare feet. (The very inspiration for this photo.) I salute you.

....Spiderman.

'With great power, Comes great responsibility'...

Today, It was all about raising money for comic relief.
I had organised a fancy dress fun run for all of the children I look after to 'Do something funny for money', and today was the day.
They were legends and ran as fast as their little legs could carry them.
Dogwalkers and dogs alike looked alarmed as a builder, a cowgirl, a doctor, a fairy, Postman Pat, Spiderman, Darth Vader and The Virgin Mary (yes, really. Complete with baby) all sped past them shrieking with laughter.

So proud of them all. :D

P.s Todays photo is a blur, but then...so was today. :)

Music.

So today I've felt a little overwhelmed at the expanse of days ahead (365-24=341..!!), so I have become involved in a little flickr group to help ease me out of my comfort zone. They have different themes to run with, and todays was 'Music'. So I shot my heavily decorated and much loved guitar. :) Thanks Flickr!

..."Kissing Gaaate"

Went for  a lovely walk with these two gorgeousnesses after school today.

Every time we see a country gate, (and in keeping with strange traditions of the world), Boo shouts "KISSING GAAATE, KISSING GAAATE.." and won't let anyone through unless they have paid him with kisses.
Here is Dylan handing over the currency. :)

...Ahhhh.

So.. This is how I'm rolling tonight.
Walking home singing drunkenly, and simultaneously tracking down nearest kebab shop, after too many shots of sambuca.
A hot bubble bath, some wine, Stu's big ol' trackie bums and a movie.
My god, I'm hardcore... *shakes head*

....Rock n' Roll.

Okay, so when I said I would try not to use Dylan and Boo everyday in my 365, I was clearly lying.
I think it's a bit like saying the word "Diet" to myself; which only makes me crave cake, and chocolate more than i ever would've in the first place. :D

Anyway. Here is the 1970's crazed rockstar version of Dylan.
Which is a bit like the 2011 crazed little boy version of Dylan(!).....but with tattoos.
My God I love that boy. X

...Cars.

A little fact: Cars make Boo MAHOOSIVELY happy.

Since he was able to clutch anything in his little baby fist, It has been Mcqueen. And it's a love affair that shows no signs of ending any time soon.
My 365 would not be complete without a pinch of Disney Cars love.
And a whole lot of Boo love.

...Birth Bracelet.

Theres a blog I am loving since stumbling across it on the book of faces, called From Our Hearts To Our Hands.
It's run by four A.mazing professional photographers,  (Anna HardyEmma CaseDebs Invelja and Joanna Brown) who are encouraging and inspiring others to take photos for the love of it.
Anyway, There is a word or phrase to work from each month to draw inspiration from, and this months is "Birth".

I wandered around the house muttering "Birth....Birth....BIRRRTTTTH" over and over like a nut bar for a while, considered hanging around on farms, and/or maternity wards for another while, and then rummaged in memory boxes to uncover my little boys hospital 'bracelet'. (HOW tiny?) :)
Normally i would be too much of a fraidy cat to actually post something, being a newbie to all this, but I manned up and did it anyway! I'm glad I did.

So here we have it! Big Brave Day 18. X

...Brothers.

I am trying very hard not to photograph Dylan and Boo everyday for my 365.
What can I say? They are here, they are willing, they let me draw on their feet (with...ahem... permanent marker pen...) and they're always the most beautiful thing around.
X
(P.s Todays 365 is imperfect, but so am i, so it's okay... : )

Sunday

...Perfect Sundays. :)

Today we met up with some great friends and we all went for a gorgeous Sunday roast at our lovely local pub (Table for 16 please!)
Afterwards we all took our broods to the park for a well deserved runaround.
It was one of those just lovely lovely days. I felt very content and happy.
There was also some daytime drinking as an added bonus. ; )
Here's to my boys X

Can't recommend tattooist Antony Flemming highly enough. Massively talented, and lovely to boot.

Thank you for letting me half blind you in my attempts to photograph your eye.
